The Butterfly Project is a mentoring programme that was set up in 2014 to support marginalised women and help them earn a livelihood. *55% of Pakistani girls are unable to attend school, and only 14% women are earning government standard pays. Due to a lack of education, they are unable to find suitable jobs as adults, which is why we train all our recruits in vocational skills like sewing, pattern-making and embroidery and provide flexible working hours so that they can manage their household and work simultaneously.
Currently we have a small team of artisans that are predominantly living in Rawalpindi, Multan, Kalar Sayedan, and Rawat. Our goal is to pay fair wages to the artisans and to promote craftsmanship that is enriched in Pakistani culture. The Butterfly project team continues to grow and we have come a long way! We are a fantastic team of talented, self-sufficient and confident women and we take great pride in our work.
